Scott's Power Equipment Blog
The original Scott's Power Equipment location opened its doors in Spring of 2001. Since then, it has grown to be the largest of our commercial outdoor power equipment dealerships with equipment such as aerators, chippers, loaders and trenchers by Toro or RedMax power equipment and turf equipment and implements by Ryan. Our largest location is in Bridgeton at the corner of Lindbergh and St. Charles Rock Road and opened in Fall 2013. It has been called one of the most innovative power equipment dealers in the nation.
Lawn Aeration Matters
Professional groundskeepers and landscapers know that aeration can be a great way to enhance a lawn. Aeration involves piercing the soil with small holes, allowing the ground to hold more moisture and giving grass better access to what it needs to grow full and healthy. This process can make a huge difference in a short time, but the trouble comes when deciding what kind of aerating equipment to use. There are a lot of aerators out there for professionals to choose from, but it’s important to get one that’s right for your needs.
Pros and Cons of Commercial Mower Fuel Choices
Running a professional landscaping business offers plenty of obstacles to overcome, from the right equipment to the right fuel. When the bottom line is at stake, every piece of information about efficiency of operation can make the difference between continued operations and an unsustainable business model. Just like with equipment, fuel choices can impact productivity, harmful emissions, and even noise pollution. At Scott’s Power Equipment, we know professional landscapers need to keep up to date on the best practices when it comes to creating better efficiency in their business operations.

Upgrading Your Home Lawn Mower
Taking care of a home lawn can be a point of pride for many a homeowner, and it’s easy to understand why. There’s a lot of work that goes into creating that pristine green from week to week. For those with larger lawns, this can seem impossible. If you’re spending more than an hour or so on your lawn every week, then it’s time to consider a time-saving upgrade to your push or walk-behind mower. Not only does that old mower take a lot of time to get everything done, it also leaves less-than-ideal results when working larger lawns. Keeping a straight line on that suburban lawn is easy compared to a veritable field of grass.
Choosing Between a Lawn Tractor vs. Zero-Turn Mower
Maintaining a large piece of property can get tiring, especially if you don’t have the right equipment for the job. Things get worse if you have a lawn to take care of. Fortunately there are lots of options for keeping grass under control, but with those options come choices in terms of equipment. Lawn tractors are a common choice, as are zero-turn riding mowers. Both are faster and more efficient than walk-behind or push mowers, but there are some particular features that could make a big difference depending on the specifics of your property.
Riding Lawn Mower Accessories
If you’re coming from a push or walk-behind mower, then a riding mower can be quite the upgrade for taking care of your property. Saving time and increasing efficiency is the backbone of working smarter, so you shouldn’t stop at just getting a riding mower. Look into the wide world of accessories! Riding mowers can equip an array of attachments and accessories to specialize your mower or get it doing work you might not have even thought it could handle.
Mower Maintenance
You’ve already put aside the push mower for something with a little more oomph, why not go the extra mile to ensure your equipment keeps running for years to come? Maintenance can be a real pain in the neck, but it’s much prefered to the alternative of broken equipment and expensive service bills. A few simple maintenance checks can save you time, money, and oh so much worry.
